Overview
In 1971, Louie Signorelli's oceanfront Victorian home was transformed into Louie's Backyard .Originally the restaurant only had seats for twelve. There was only one waiter. Phil and Pat Tenney bought the restaurant in 1983 and with love and attention to detail, they renovated Louie's into the beautiful building it is today. All these efforts earned Louie's placement in the National Register of Historic Places.
Today, Louie's is a Florida beach bar that must be visited when you go to Key West. True, it is a gourmet beach bar, but you will love Louie's. It is a great place to enjoy a drink and watch the crowd and enjoy the waterfront.
Rumor has it that Jimmy Buffett lived in this house at one time, and that he lived in some of the neighboring houses as well. He does sing about Louie's Backyard in one of his songs. The food at Louie's is absolutely delicious, but this isn't about food....it's about bars. Louie's has a lower deck bar that just invites you to spend the afternoon drinking lovely cocktails and looking out at the Atlantic Ocean.
Louie's is a favorite Florida beach bar for sure.The Afterdeck is dog friendly. It should be because Louie's is located right next to Dog Beach on Key West. We have even seen a dog sitting at the bar on a stool at Louis! How perfect is a Florida beach bar that likes dogs too?
